MeSH Description
Striped GRAY MATTER and WHITE MATTER consisting of the NEOSTRIATUM and paleostriatum (GLOBUS PALLIDUS). It is located in front of and lateral to the THALAMUS in each cerebral hemisphere. The gray substance is made up of the CAUDATE NUCLEUS and the lentiform nucleus (the latter consisting of the GLOBUS PALLIDUS and PUTAMEN). The WHITE MATTER is the INTERNAL CAPSULE.

Crosslinked tissues were fragmented to the size range of 100–500 bp using a Bioruptor (Bioruptor Next Gen; Diagenode). Antibodies that specifically recognizes H3K27 acetylation (Abcam, ab4729) and Elk-1 protein (Santa Cruz, sc-355X) along with nonspecific rabbit IgG (Millipore, 17-614) were incubated with beads for 6 h before incubating with sonicated chromatin overnight. Immunoprecipitated DNA and nonspecific IgG-bound DNA were prepared for high-throughput sequencing according to Illumina's instructions and sequenced on an Illumina platform following the manufacturer's standard protocol.
